The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced record-breaking registration for its 24 Hours of Concrete Knowledge event, with nearly 2,500 registrants and more than 1,000 live attendees. For the sixth straight year, this event gathered students and experts from around the world for 24 continuous hours of collaborative and innovative learning. Each event-hour featured presentations from different regions of the world on various projects, technologies, and new developments in the concrete industry, led by ACI Chapters and Allied Organizations in more than 20 countries.
“First, we must thank all presenters, including those from ACI Chapters and Allied Organizations, for being part of the event. Without them, we don’t have the 24 Hours of Concrete Knowledge, and certainly don’t have a well-attended event,” said Bernie Pekor, senior director, International Affairs, ACI. “The event gives presenters an excellent platform to share the extensive knowledge they have from their respective regions on a global scale. 24 Hours of Concrete Knowledge continues to improve year over year, and we thank the thousands of attendees for joining us.”
This year, the program highlighted innovations in sustainable and low-carbon concrete, decarbonization strategies, carbon capture technologies, recycled and alternative materials, and the use of nano- and bio-based materials. Sessions also explored resilient and high-performance structures, including seismic and wind design, bridge engineering, repair and rehabilitation, durability in harsh environments, and performance-based design approaches. Additional topics included 3D printed concrete construction, fiber-reinforced and ultra-high-performance concrete, digital technologies such as BIM and artificial intelligence, underground infrastructure, tall buildings, and major international case studies demonstrating how concrete innovation is shaping the future of the built environment. Innovative practices and technologies were presented, such as hybrid reinforced concrete elements combining glass fiber reinforced polymer and steel reinforcement.
ACI’s 24 Hours of Concrete Knowledge provides a platform for the global concrete community to exchange knowledge on the latest advancements, research, and trends in concrete technology and construction.
