The application of exterior wall insulation layer construction technology in building construction significantly enhances the thermal insulation performance of buildings while reducing construction costs. It ensures construction quality and effectively improves corporate economic benefits, making it a highly recommended technology. Currently, the most widely used insulation material is polymer insulation mortar, a new type of construction material with excellent waterproofing, moisture-proofing, and thermal insulation properties, offering vast application prospects.

1. Preparation of Exterior Wall Insulation Mortar

After starting the machine, pour 25-28 kg of water into the mortar mixer. Then add one bag of 28 kg powder and mix for 3-5 minutes before adding 200 L of polystyrene particles and continuing to mix until uniform. Pour out the mixture. Add polystyrene particles, noting that no additional water should be added here. Water will affect the adhesion of the insulation layer and make construction difficult. This mortar should be mixed and used immediately, and must be consumed within 4 hours. Do not mix manually.

2. Exterior Wall Insulation Mortar Application

First, prepare the base surface. Before starting the entire construction process, thoroughly clean the wall surface of dust, oil stains, and other contaminants. Additionally, remove any bulging areas on the exterior wall surface and use standard cement mortar to fill and level the low areas in layers.

Second, seal all holes on the exterior wall surface. Then apply a primer to the concrete substrate and perform surface conditioning. For the exterior wall insulation mortar application process, the substrate should be pre-wetted with water, but no standing water should be present on the wall surface during plastering.

Third, mortar mixing. For the mixing of insulation mortar used in exterior walls, mechanical mixing equipment that meets standards and requirements must be used. Mixing times vary depending on the type of mortar. Generally, this should be maintained at around 5–6 minutes. The raw materials should be mixed as needed and used within 3 hours.

Fourth, precautions for plastering and finishing. Before applying exterior wall insulation mortar, gray markers should first be set according to the designed thickness of the insulation layer. Only after they fully meet the strength requirements can the exterior wall insulation mortar be applied. This insulation mortar application must be performed using a layered construction method.

Fifth, construction conditions are also a critical consideration in the exterior wall insulation mortar application process. First, after the scaffolding and embedded components are installed according to design specifications, the construction environment temperature must not exceed 35°C and must not drop below 5°C. Additionally, exterior wall construction has strict requirements for wind speed and direction. Construction must not be carried out during rain or before rain, and proper rain protection measures must be implemented.

Sixth, in addition to the above points, relevant personnel must prepare all tools and equipment required for the exterior wall insulation mortar construction project and inspect them for any faults or abnormalities before use. Only safe and effective equipment and tools can ensure the smooth completion of such construction projects.
