Coatings are a type of liquid or solid material that is applied to the surface of an object and forms a film under certain conditions to provide protection, decoration or other special functions. Nowadays, coatings can generate a large amount of foam during production and application, and the generation of foam mainly depends on the application method, the excessive amount of surfactant and the presence of chemicals in the coating that are prone to foaming. Foam can introduce volume expansion, reduce the utilisation rate of the mixing equipment, lower the quality of the coating and affect the results when it is used. If the foam problem is not solved in time, it will cause production costs for the manufacturer, so at this time, many paint manufacturers will choose to use a coating defoamer to solve the bubble problem.
Why does coating foam?
1. Low surface tension
2. Presence of surfactants
3. Presence of gaps in the substrate to be painted
4. High surface viscosity
5. Improper spraying, brushing, rolling, etc. during the construction process
What are the hazards of foam in coatings?

1. Foam is generated during mixing with other surfactants, causing volume expansion and reducing the utilization rate of the mixing equipment.
2. Foam restricts the mixing speed, prolonging the mixing time, and also prevents the filler and dye from being fully wetted.
3. Foam prevents the packaging drum from being filled completely, and after the foam gradually disappears, it causes the weight of the packaging drum to be uneven, interfering with continuous packaging.
4. The persistent foam causes poor fluidity, surface defects, unevenness, and film rupture during the application process.
5. When using paint by spraying, rolling, or silk screening, internal foam appears, affecting product quality.
What is a coating defoamer?
Coating defoamers are refined through a special process and have the properties of self-emulsifying, easy to disperse, versatility, good defoaming, long-lasting foam suppression, etc. They will not cause surface defects or affect film formation, and have a particular effect on water-based coating systems.
During the production, packaging and application of coatings, they control foam generation, have good compatibility with a wide range of systems, last a long time and are useful over a wide pH range.
Application scenarios:
1. Particularly suitable for water-based coating systems;
2. Prevents microfoam and large foam;
3. High defoaming efficiency;
4. High compatibility;
5. Suitable for varnishes and paints;
6. Can be used in airless spray formulations;
7. Thick paste coatings, surface coatings of synthetic latex;
8. Interior and exterior latex paints; waterproof coatings, medium and high PVC latex paints, relief paints, various types of engineering paints, etc.
