Lightweight Gypsum Plaster Cellulose Ether
Lightweight gypsum plaster is composed of β-hemihydrate gypsum as binder, expanded perlite as aggregate, calcium carbonate as filler, along with water-retaining thickener (cellulose ether), binder (RDP), thixotropic agent, and other additives. This article compares the application performance of two cellulose ethers—* 60010 and Sidley ME 42M07—at the same dosage, providing a reference for formulation selection.

1. Test Formulation and Conditions
-
Binder: β-hemihydrate gypsum
-
Aggregate: Expanded perlite
-
Filler: Calcium carbonate
-
Cellulose ether dosage: 0.2% for both
-
Water addition: 49% for both
2. Performance Test Results

3. Analysis
- 60010 shows slightly better performance in consistency, flexural strength, and compressive strength.
-
Sidley ME 42M07 shows slightly better performance in setting time (longer) and tensile bond strength.
-
Both exhibit good workability with no significant differences.
4. Conclusion
Both cellulose ethers meet the basic performance requirements for lightweight gypsum plaster. Selection can be based on formulation priorities regarding strength, bond performance, or working time.
