Ultimate Linings now operates one of North America’s largest dedicated polyurea manufacturing facilities.

Polyurea-based coatings are an important part of our everyday lives.  From truck beds to floors and so much more, these waterproof coatings provide protection to countless types of surfaces.

For Lebanon, TN-based Ultimate Linings LLC, a specialist in polyurea coatings, its journey began in 1989, developing hybrid-polyurea applications at a time when spray-on bedliners were only starting to gain momentum in the automotive aftermarket.

Darren Hull, international marketing manager for Ultimate Linings, notes that throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the company became a trusted name in truck bed protection, helping shape the spray-on bedliner market as it grew from a niche concept into a mainstream vehicle upgrade.

“In 2009, Ultimate Linings supported the first OEM factory spray-on bedliner program, a major milestone that marked the beginning of factory-installed bedliners becoming standard in new vehicles,” Hull says. “During this time, the company also expanded its capabilities into pure polyurea and polyaspartic formulations, extending its reach into additional markets such as oil and gas, secondary containment, tank linings, and construction.”

The COVID-19 pandemic brought serious disruption to the coatings sector as global supply chains tightened and raw materials were redirected toward medical manufacturing. Ultimate Linings used this challenge as an opportunity to strengthen its foundation and prepare for the future.

In 2023, the company relocated from Texas to a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Nashville, TN. The site was designed to provide complete control of production, supply, and quality, ensuring greater security and consistency for its customers.

Key Markets

With the capacity to produce up to 300 million pounds of polyurea per year, Ultimate Linings now operates one of North America’s largest dedicated polyurea manufacturing facilities. The company has also established long-term partnerships with key raw material suppliers, securing its position as a reliable and resilient manufacturer capable of supporting customer needs even during global supply constraints.

Key Markets

Ultimate Linings provides coating solutions for a diverse range of industries, including:

• Automotive: OEM and aftermarket bedliners, cargo load liners, and utility vehicle coatings.

• Oil & Gas: High-performance, chemical-resistant linings and containment systems.

• Wastewater and Secondary Containment: Seamless corrosion protection for tanks and infrastructure.

• Construction: Rapid-curing, long-life protective coatings for flooring, structures, and waterproofing.

• EPS and Theming: Hard-coat systems for themed environments and architectural applications.

Its emphasis on quality and service are key to Ultimate Linings’ success.

“Ultimate Linings’ greatest strength lies in its combination of large-scale manufacturing, deep technical expertise, and commitment to quality,” Hull observes. “The company’s vertically integrated approach, supported by close collaboration with raw material partners, enables consistent supply and dependable product performance.”

Its facility houses a fully accredited ISO 17025 laboratory, ensuring rigorous product testing, R&D, and formulation development. In addition, Ultimate Linings is certified to ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and IATF 16949:2016, the globally recognized standard for automotive quality management systems.

That last certification is particularly significant, as it positions Ultimate Linings as a Tier 1 OEM supplier trusted by leading automotive manufacturers for its ability to meet stringent production, traceability, and performance requirements. Combined with 24/7 technical support and decades of field experience, these accreditations reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to excellence across every layer of its operation.

Growth and Market Outlook

The use of polyurea is expanding worldwide, and Ultimate Linings is helping to meet these needs.

“As more industries seek coatings that deliver speed, durability, and sustainability, polyurea continues to gain ground,” Hull says. “Ultimate Linings is experiencing strong growth across its core markets, from automotive OEM programs to infrastructure rehabilitation and industrial protection. Our company’s expanding global reach, growing partner network, and continuous investment in innovation are fueling this upward trajectory.”

“Polyurea is not just an alternative; it is a performance upgrade,” says Chris Mellin, senior director of technical support at Ultimate Linings. “Our goal is to make polyurea accessible and dependable for every customer, whether that is a large-scale manufacturer or a local applicator. We want our customers to spend less time waiting on materials and more time delivering results.”
